Biomass
This was revealed in a report by Navigant Research, which predicts that it will reach an annual turnover of 11.5 billion dollars in 2020, and the general demand will increase by 9%.
Therefore, the use of biomass and waste from agriculture and forestry to produce energy from renewable resources is one of the most important challenges for promoting eco-sustainability in the world we live in. Today, biomass processing represents 15% of primary energy use in the world (developing countries obtain 38% of their energy needs from biomass).
Focusing on the values of environmental sustainability, for many years La Meccanica has been creating and testing a range of state-of-the-art machinery and systems to process biomass and waste from agriculture, forestry and industry.
The machines and processing solutions La Meccanica offers have been specifically designed and made according to the types of biomass to be processed:
Biomass from forests: waste from wood processing, pruning, and dedicated forest residues. Biomass from agriculture, or “Agro Biomass”: dedicated energy crops, cereal crop straw and assimilable waste, alfalfa, hay, miscanthus etc.
Biomass from industry; waste from food products, such as olive residues, waste from juice production, etc.
The products we currently make are Pellet Mills, Counterflow and Vertical Coolers, Vibrating Sifters and Hammer Mills.
The most active market for La Meccanica in the biomass sector is currently in the U.S., however, important contacts are underway with Canada and Brazil.
