Art, Nature and Environmental Reflection
One of the most significant projects of the season is “Lotta per l’esistenza”, a solo exhibition by Marzia Migliora at Arte Sella in Val di Sella. The exhibition unfolds between Villa Strobele and Malga Costa and explores the fragile relationship between humanity and the natural world.
Through immersive installations and delicate paper dioramas from the series Paradossi dell’Abbondanza, the artist reflects on ecological instability and climate change. The installations present hybrid landscapes inhabited by imaginary organisms, giant fungi, and glacier-like structures, symbolizing a world undergoing transformation.
Complementing Migliora’s project is Discrete Landscape, a site-specific architectural installation by Mario Cucinella. Built from hundreds of modular 3D-printed blocks, the structure creates a contemplative space within the natural environment. The project exemplifies sustainable design by using local materials and reversible construction techniques.
Together, the works reaffirm Arte Sella’s mission: to foster dialogue between art, architecture, and the alpine landscape.
Major Exhibitions and Artistic Events of Spring 2026
Francesco Stefanini – Apparizioni e Silenzi
Painter Francesco Stefanini presents works exploring light, silence, and the symbolic fragility of nature. Inspired partly by the poetry of Giuseppe Ungaretti and the landscapes of the Carso region, Stefanini’s paintings evoke emotional atmospheres rather than literal representations.
Light plays the central role in these works, appearing as a shifting element—diffused, reflected, or barely perceptible—revealing hidden layers of the natural world.
Lorna Simpson and Paulo Nazareth – Punta della Dogana, Venice
A major international event of the season takes place at Punta della Dogana in Venice, which hosts two parallel exhibitions:
Lorna Simpson – Third Person
This exhibition presents more than a decade of the American artist’s painting practice. Through paintings, collages, installations, and film, Simpson constructs fragmented narratives that explore memory, identity, and historical erasure.
Paulo Nazareth – Algebra
Brazilian artist Paulo Nazareth addresses the legacy of colonialism and global migration. The exhibition uses installations, performances, and symbolic materials—such as salt—to evoke the memory of transatlantic slave routes and forgotten histories.
Together, the two exhibitions create a dialogue about what history records and what it leaves out, transforming the former customs building into a space for critical reflection.
Painting of Reality in Veneto – Palazzo Chiericati, Vicenza
Another key cultural event is the exhibition “Pittura del vero da Favretto a Beltrame”, presented at the Museo Civico di Palazzo Chiericati.
The show celebrates a major donation of 51 works by collector Silvano Colbacchini, featuring artists active in the Venetian region between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. The exhibition highlights painters associated with realism and verismo, including Giacomo Favretto, Guglielmo Ciardi, Alessandro Milesi, and Federico Zandomeneghi.
Through portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes, the exhibition reveals the search for truth and natural observation that defined Venetian painting in the post-unification era.
Eva Franceschini – Geometry and Craft in Contemporary Jewelry
The magazine also highlights the work of Eva Franceschini, a contemporary jewelry designer whose creations combine geometric precision with experimental materials.
Her pieces often mix precious metals with recycled or unconventional elements, reflecting a sustainable approach to craftsmanship. The designs emphasize lightness, transparency, and delicate forms reminiscent of lace or natural patterns.
